Anvil_LinkedIn_BannerAnvil is a studio & gallery based in Canberra, Australia. We are centrally located at The Hamlet in Braddon, the heart of Canberra’s cultural renaissance. We host exhibitions, workshops and social events which bring people together through a shared love of visual arts & design.  Anvil is generally open Thursday to Sunday, with late hours for exhibition openings & special events.

Our previous exhibitions have showcased a mix of street art, graphic design, illustrations, typography, furniture design, product design and a number of publication launches (books and zines). We have developed strong ties with Canberra’s design community, having hosted multiple exhibitions and events for the University of Canberra Faculty of Arts and Design, The Design Kids and Design Canberra Festival.

Anvil was a sponsor of the the 2016 University of Canberra graphic design graduate showcase. We have coordinated live art for Canberra’s Cream music and festival and we are an event partner of Show & Tell, Canberra’s premier contemporary design market.

Anvil features a 3D printed door handle, designed by René Linssen. René is an emerging industrial designer from Canberra, Australia. He has achieved national recognition for his design work, winning accolades such as the 2015 Vogue Living Alessi Emerging Design Prize.

Show & Tell – Event Partner

Anvil is proud to be an event partner of the Show & Tell design market.

Show & Tell is a Canberra based contemporary design market, founded by illustrator and graphic designer Juliette Dudley. After attending other Canberra markets as a stall holder herself, Juliette decided to have a go at starting her own market with the aim of supporting local designers, artists, illustrators and makers.

The first market was launched at Belconnen Arts Centre in July of 2016, with about 500 attendees and 28 stallholders. The next Show & Tell will be a Christmas night market, on Saturday 26 November 2016, held again at the Arts Centre. The market will feature about 35 stalls, food and drink from local vendors, and live music.
